The Best Home Remedies for Dry Hair

Solutions for Dry Hair

Start with the simple solution: Put a humidifier in your room. Your problem is likely a lack of moisture in the environment, so the most natural solution is to introduce some moisture, specifically through a humidifier or a vaporizer. Even if you only run it at night while you sleep, it really can make a big difference!

Try a butter massage. Another home remedy for restoring your hair to a bright, glossy look? Massage some butter into your dry hair. Really work it in, down to the roots. Then put a shower cap over your hair to hold the butter in place for half an hour. After that, simply shampoo like normal, and all the butter will rinse right out.

Opt for olive oil. An alternative to the last technique: Heat up some olive oil (not to a boiling point, though), and rub it vigorously into your hair. Put a plastic bag around your hair to seal the olive oil in, and then wrap the whole thing in a towel for 45 minutes or so. After that, shampoo to get all the olive oil out of your hair; if left, it can clog the root of the hair, which will make it counterproductive.

Do a tea rinse. Get some organic tea (make sure it doesn’t have any added sugars, etc.) and brew it. Let it cool down, and then shampoo your hair with it. From there, just shampoo like normal to clean everything out.

Learn the proper way to dry your hair. After you get out of the shower, don’t use a blow dryer on your hair. In fact, try to avoid using heat appliances at all. Instead, simply wrap your hair in a cotton towel and allow it several minutes to naturally absorb moisture. From there, let it air dry. Be careful not to go outside in the cold with wet hair, though; wear a hat or a scarf if your hair isn’t quite dry yet.
