From Brunette to Blonde: Kendall Jenner's Getting Wiggy With It

At the recent Balmain Paris Fashion Week show, guess who was sporting a very different look from her signature brunette locks? It was none other than supermodel Kendall Jenner, wearing no lipstick or mascara, contrasting her naturally dark features with wild newly platinum blonde wig and regal outfits to match from white-hot designer Olivier Rousteing.

Walking with Jenner was her BFF, Gigi Hadid, who was also working a new look on top that was totally the opposite of her normal blond mane — it was as if the two had swapped ‘dos!

As it turns out, the popular pair hadn’t made any drastic changes — both were wearing wigs. Both hairpieces were custom-made for the talked-about show by designer Nabil Harlow.

Fans and media alike were taken with Jenner’s wavy new style, which included dark roots for further realism and visual effect. Pictures of the model’s runway poses were splashed all over Instagram and Facebook and shared with millions of the star’s followers.

Of course, it isn’t the first time Jenner’s been spotted wearing hair that wasn’t hers; she’s been seen in platinum, pink and darker shades on at least five other occasions previously, including two for Vogue magazine.

Jenner and Hadid have created new excitement for wigs that hasn’t been seen in the fashion world since the 1970s. Back then, tens of millions of the pieces were sold every year and most French couture labels had their own line. In fact, virgin European hair is unmatched anywhere.

With Jenner and fans adding wigged-out looks to tweets, selfies and social media, who knows where this trend could go? It seems wigs are back but in the meantime, Kendall Jenner’s fans want to know what shade she’ll be in next!

At New Look Institute, we have been ahead of the wig trend for years.
