7 Home Remedies for Thinning Hair That Actually Work

No matter your age, a healthy head of hair is key to feeling your best. So, when you start to notice more stands than normal in your shower or sink, you might feel a bit concerned.

Could your hair really be thinning?

While changes in your hair might make you feel emotional and anxious, your hair might just need a little extra care. There are some simple home remedies you can use to rejuvenate your locks and regain your confidence. By being patient with yourself and trying these tricks, you can give your hair the nourishment it needs to grow strong again.

1. Boost Your Diet

Just like the rest of your body, your hair thrives when it is properly nourished. Be sure to eat foods rich in B vitamins, iron, and folic acid. It's also important to eat a diet with plenty of protein, as this essential nutrient keeps your hair, skin, and nails at their best. Eggs, lean meats, nuts, and fish can be especially effective.

2. Scalp Massages

Not only can a simple scalp massage help you feel relaxed and pampered, but it can also stimulate your hair follicles. You can add this treatment to your shower routine. Simply take the time to massage your scalp for five to ten minutes. For an extra boost, use two tablespoons of sesame oil and rub it into your scalp. Massage, rinse, and feel amazing!

3. Aloe Vera

Have an aloe plant in your house? Clip one of its leaves and apply the gel to your scalp. Let it sit until you start to feel a tingling sensation, then hop in the shower to rinse it off. If you don't have an aloe plant in your home, natural aloe vera gel from the store can do the trick as well.

4. Avocado Mask

While this remedy may seem a little ooey gooey, the nutritional magic of avocados can do wonders for your hair. Simply mash up a ripe avocado into a bowl, adding a ripe banana for additional nutrients. Mix this combination and apply it to your scalp. Put on a shower cap to keep everything in place and wait for about thirty minutes. Wash the mixture out of your hair with a gentle shampoo and enjoy your silky smooth locks.

5. Coconut Oil Mask

Another effective hair mask, coconut oil is full of moisturizing and nutritional power. Scoop about two tablespoons of the oil out of the jar and melt it down on the stove or microwave. Carefully run this liquid through your hair and onto your scalp. You might consider massaging your scalp for about 10 to 15 minutes to really let the oil soak in. Leave in your hair for as long as desired (some do so overnight) and then thoroughly rinse it out.

6. Green Tea Rinse

Natural green tea is full of antioxidants, giving your body an immunity boost. This magic liquid can also strengthen your hair. Brew a cup a green tea and let it cool down completely. Step into the shower or lean over the sink, then carefully rinse your hair with the tea. Wait about an hour and rinse.

7. Biotin

Biotin, or vitamin B-7, is key to keeping your hair, skin, and nails healthy. Be sure to take a multivitamin that includes this powerful nutrient. This is a super easy way to add a little extra hair care into your daily routine.
